GlasWeld, a complete solutions provider for the Glass Repair industry, is proud to announce that one of its Certified Technicians has taken top honors at the national and international auto glass repair competition using GlasWeld windshield repair equipment.
Braulio López of Repair & Go, Espana S.L. in Lugo, Spain took home the Gold medal at the 8th Annual Walt Gorman Memorial Windshield Repair Olympics held earlier this past week in Tampa, Florida during the annual Auto Glass Week Convention. In his fourth attempt in this windshield repair competition, López edged out last years’ second place competitor to take home the top prize of $10,000, a gold medal, a trophy, and bragging rights as the “World’s Best Windshield Repair Technician.” López used GlasWeld’s G3 ProVac Injector and the all new ProCur2 LED Powered UV Curing Lamp to repair damaged windshields during the two-day competition. López has been in the windshield repair business since 1998 and first entered the competition in 2009 after winning a qualifying event in his native country of Spain.
“We all knew Braulio would be a contender at the competition. He takes his business very seriously and is the consummate professional,” stated Shiloh Spoo, Vice President for GlasWeld. “He was calm and collected under the pressure of the judges, spectators, and media watching his every move. We are also extremely proud that in three of the past four competitions the Gold Medal has been earned by a GlasWeld Trained and Certified Technician using our patented products and supplies.”
The Windshield Repair Olympics competition is designed to find the auto glass repair technician who completes the best auto glass repair. Judging covers six major areas, including customer interaction and technician comportment, as well as safe and proper repair practices following the ROLAGS (Repair of Laminated Auto Glass Standards) standard for windshield repair.
GlasWeld was the platinum sponsor of the Windshield Repair Olympics for the eighth consecutive year. “Our mission is to raise the bar of professionalism among windshield repair technicians and to increase awareness of windshield repair as an option. It should be a consumer’s first choice to repair a windshield rather than replace it. Repair is environmentally responsible, economical, and retains the original factory bond of the windshield,” stated Spoo. “Each year, 11 million non-recyclable windshields go into our landfills. We hope to make a dent in that number.”
